Cheaper By the Dozen

Cheaper By the Dozen
Corn Stock Theatre
June 24 -  July 2

Corn Stock Theatre is thrilled to present Cheaper By The Dozen, opening this Friday, June 24 at the Corn Stock Tent. As the only non-musical this summer, the show offers mostly poignant and dramatic moments, but also delights and entertains with everyday family situations that will make you laugh out loud.

Cheaper By The Dozen features well-known performers Charles Richard Brown and Amy Wyckoff portraying Frank and Lillian Gilbreth. Told in flashback style by the two characters playing the children who authored the book, Frank Jr. (Logan Henderson) and Earnestine (Anna Duffer), the show captures the strictness of the father and his underlying love for his children. Director Amy Williams chose a talented cast of children and adults to carry off this warm family play.

Set in the mid 1920’s, the inventor father, Frank Sr., is an expert in efficiency, and does his best to keep the family home running just as efficiently. While most of the play discusses the ups and downs of family, childhood, and efficiency through “scientific management”, we learn there’s a greater purpose to this science. It’s more than just making the most of the time we have, it’s about saving time for the things we love. It is an extremely funny, heart-warming tale.

Younger Frank Jr. is portrayed by Creighton Peacock and younger Ernestine is portrayed by Elizabeth Duckworth. The other children are portrayed by Emma Wyckoff (Anne), Megan Walters (Martha), Gardner Brown (Bill), Margot McNutt (Lillian), Jacob Brabec (Fred), Flynn Robertson (Dan) and Laynie Zika (Jackie).

Throughout the play, the family is joined by a number of supporting characters that bring their own flair to the show. Excellent performances by Laura Steffey (Mrs. Fitzgerald), Chris Peterlin (Dr. Burton), Andrew Irwin (Joe Scales), Helen Engelbrecht (Miss Brill), and William Crouch (Larry).

Known for the family-friendly environment at Corn Stock, this show in particular is very special for the Wyckoff family. Real-life mother and daughter Amy & Emma Wyckoff portray mother and daughter onstage, while husband/father Marc Wyckoff was involved behind the scenes with set design and construction.

This uplifting, coming-of-age comedy is sure to entertain the entire family! The show runs nightly
