The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
Peoria Players Theatre
February 5-7 & 11-14

Peoria Players Theatre presents “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” this February!

Director Chip Joyce, who helmed last season’s production of Cabaret and several other previous Peoria Players productions, returns to lead a company of 32 onstage in this revival of the popular and fan favorite musical featuring a popular country and western score and based on the real-life story of the notorious Chicken Ranch brothel. Known since the 1890s as “one of the better pleasure palaces in all of Texas,” it’s a happy go lucky view of small town vice and statewide political side-stepping.

While the show is periodically produced in Peoria (including a previous production at Peoria Players in 1991), it is not an overly produced title, as Joyce reasons “it’s not the easiest show to assemble—it requires a rare combination of sexy, talented women, good looking all-American guys that can sing AND dance, and a slew of charismatic, colorful lead characters. ALL of that can sometimes be hard to come by for just one production.” But Joyce has succeeded, and is excited for audiences to see this incredible cast of 32, many of whom are first timers to Peoria Players.“ We have several leads commuting from Bloomington—they heard the show was being produced, and knew what fun it would be, so they were willing to brave the winter commute to be a part of it.” I also think when the guys do their big ‘Aggie Football’ dance number, it’s going to bring down the house!”

While the show is definitely recommended for mature audiences, Joyce assures patrons that “it’s all good, sort of clean, naughty fun;” even one of the show’s primary songs promises that “there’s nothin’ dirty goin’ on!”

Performances of The Best Little Whorehouse run February 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 at 7:30 pm and February 7 and 14 at 2:00. Tickets are $19 for adults and $12 for those 20 and younger. Call 688-4473 or use the PayPal option at
